What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Hair Restoration?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) hair restoration is a non-surgical treatment designed to stimulate hair growth and improve hair density by utilizing components of your own blood. PRP therapy harnesses the healing properties of platelets and growth factors found in your blood to rejuvenate hair follicles and promote natural hair regrowth.

**Who is a Candidate?**

PRP hair restoration is suitable for individuals who are experiencing early to moderate hair loss or thinning. PRP does not replace hair that is lost, however it can improve the texture and density of thinning hair.

Candidates are men and women with significant hair loss or thinning. Those individuals with underlying medical conditions affecting hair growth may require additional treatments or a different approach such as a hair transplant. A consultation with a specialist can help determine if PRP is the right option.

**What to Expect During the Procedure**

The process begins with a small sample of your blood being drawn, similar to a routine blood test. The blood sample is then processed in a centrifuge to isolate the platelet-rich plasma from other blood components. The concentrated PRP is rich in growth factors. The PRP is injected into the scalp at the level of the hair follicles in areas of thinning or hair loss. The growth factors in PRP stimulate the hair follicles, promoting increased blood flow, cellular repair, and regeneration of hair growth.

Post-Operative Recovery

The patient will have some redness and swelling after the initial injections. However, you can wash the hair and resume normal activities 24 hours after the procedure. In general, the procedure requires a few sessions and then annual maintenance. Results can be expected in 3-6 months from initial procedure.
